2023 Disaster Recovery Owner Occupied Mitigation (OOM) Program – Ventura County
The OOM Program, administered by Ventura County, provides grants to eligible households in Ventura County for wildfire and flood mitigation retrofits on owner-occupied properties to increase resilience during future wildfire or flood disasters.
Overview
To address the County of Ventura’s wildfire and flood mitigation needs, the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) developed the OOM program to support wildfire and/or flood mitigation measures to reduce or eliminate the long-term risk of loss of life, injury, damage to and loss of property, and suffering and hardship, by lessening the impact of future disasters.
The maximum award is $100,000 per eligible household for both wildfire and/or flood mitigation based on the level of mitigation needed to protect the envelope of the home from water and/or fire intrusion. All assistance will be provided in the form of a grant.
Eligible Projects
To be eligible for OOM grant funds, households in Ventura County with income less than 120 percent of Area Median Income must demonstrate they owned and occupied the home as their primary residence in Ventura County between December 27, 2022 and January 31, 2023, and still own and occupy that home as their primary residence.
