Senior Supportive Housing Opens in Santa Clara
Seniors in the South Bay now have another affordable housing option available, as the Kifer Senior Apartments, a new supportive affordable housing community in Santa Clara, recently celebrated their grand opening. With the opening of Kifer Senior Apartments, the community aims to reduce homelessness in the region while providing housing and vital supportive services to one of the area’s most vulnerable populations.
Supported by more than $13 million from HCD’s Housing for a Healthy California program, this complex provides 80 affordable homes, 46 which are set aside for seniors experiencing homelessness or chronic homelessness who have very low or extremely low incomes, while additional units will be reserved for senior veterans experiencing homelessness. This project is an example of the type of supportive housing developments California will see expand statewide with voter approval of Proposition 1.
Kifer Senior Apartments, a project of Abode Housing Developments managed by the John Stewart Company, will provide all residents with access to on-site supportive services provided by Abode Services. These services include referrals to community resources and benefits, case management, education, financial planning, employment, health and wellness, mental health, and individual and group substance abuse recovery support.
Residents will have also access to on-site amenities including laundry rooms, high speed internet, a community room, and outdoor spaces. The complex is also close to public transit, grocery stores, and vital services.
