From wildfires to floods to hurricane-force winds, California has faced natural disasters that have devastated communities. And with California’s current housing crisis, even the smallest number of homes lost creates significant pressure on these communities, especially for our most vulnerable citizens.

After disaster strikes, HCD works to support cities and counties recover, rebuild, and become more resilient. Through funding from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, HCD administers a variety of programs called the Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery Programs that help communities recover that otherwise might not due to limited resources.
